Meet fellow expats in Tenerife by joining one of the animal charities, such as K9 Tenerife, Live Arico or Dingo Dogs. Alternatively, charity fundraising groups have an active social life. The Tenerife Lions Clubs hold golf tournaments and other events, and the Friends of Tenerife hold a variety of fundraising events. Of course, churches in Tenerife are much more than just meeting points, but they are certainly a good way to meet fellow Tenerife residents. And if you need help, there are groups that may help you through a difficult time.

It used to be difficult to watch a film in the English language if you lived in the south, but the new addition to cinemas in Tenerife of the Multicenes Gran Sur has made it possible. You need to look out for versión original on the billboard, which means the movie is shown in its original language. Films used to be shown at the Yelmo Cineplex in the La Villa shopping centre in Orotava, but due to lack of attendance, this was stopped. Hopefully the cinema in the south of Tenerife will be well patronsied and the service continues

The biggest contrast between life in Tenerife and the UK is the amount of time we spend outdoors. In Tenerife spare time becomes quality time and this is essentially the main ingredient of living a successful life anywhere in the world. The only difference in Tenerife is that there are no barriers to doing so. It is an island of great diversity with a huge range of leisure opportunities to divert us and those who make the fullest use of them lead the fullest lives.
