Tech Tourism Tactics for Tenerife
Technology based tourism tactics are having a positive impact as increasing numbers of holidaymakers book their Tenerife Holidays directly through the internet. More and more companies serving Tenerife's tourism industries are starting to experiment with social media, and their presence on the internet is growing. However once tourists have landed, Tenerife's technological infrastructure leaves something to be desired.
The internet is proving to be a much needed shot in the arm for the holiday industry in Tenerife. Increasing numbers of tourists book their flights, accommodation and holidays direct, using the internet to do so. The advantages of doing so are numerous. You don't have to queue at a travel agent, you read independent reviews, you have much more choice and therefore more flexibility to plan your holiday when you want and how you want. But perhaps the most important factor during this recession is that users feel that they get a better price for their holiday.
The cheap flight websites are well established, but Tenerife is also selling itself on the newest forms of internet media; the social sites. Tenerife companies are busy making friends on Facebook and tweeting on Twitter. Google's 'Street View' of Tenerife, which has just gone online, can now walk the tourist around the island before they even get there!
The shame is that when they do finally set foot on Tenerife, these tech-savvy tourists may be bitterly disappointed. Their tech requires connection to the internet, and their expectation will be that their hotel in techno-friendly Tenerife will provide the wifi signal they need to do so. However, the reality is that many hotels still only provide a few desktops in some dingy corner, or a domestic wifi router in the lobby. This is one area that is sure to make or break bookings, both now and in the future.
